Hello Friends! Here is my final posting for Traveler Gift Guides. As I mentioned yesterday, this is my favorite one. Why you ask? Because it is all about giving back and helping those in need. I have been soo fortunate to experience and visit many beautiful countries. Unfortunately, the one theme that connects them all is poverty. As we all know there will always be people in need and people suffering. However, we can help out. So give yourself and someone else a gift this Christmas. I promise you it will be the best gift you both receive and give. Please just take a moment to read about these amazing organizations and find out how you can help out.
This Uk based company works hand in hand with poor families in Africa, teaching them the skills they need to build new lives free from poverty and hunger. By providing training, livestock, seeds and support, they restore hope and create stronger communities for the future. You can choose to provide everything from sheep, cattle, and goats to helping to provide training and building gardens. This is amazing company and a wonderful Christmas gift!
I fell in love with the shop Gone Rural and mentioned it in my post about my experiences in Swaziland. Gone Rural is a non-profit organization that sells beautiful home accessories, such as baskets, made by 700 local Swazi women. Gone rural was created to support the women artisans and their communities through health and education programs. Please visit the site and read about this organization. Plus you can buy their gorgeous items on line! Definitely makes a unique and beautiful gift!
Shopping for a Change is a wonderful company and website that provides work for marginalized groups of artisans. It also provides a means for marketing their products and a bilateral program that provides resources for the betterment of their communities. This is a great website for unique gifts that allow you to purchase things guilt-free!
Give a loved one an ultimate travel experience by purchasing them a volunteer trip. Choose from hundreds of amazing locations and volunteer opportunities. I can’t help but think this would be a great opportunity for summer break. It gives you a chance to soak up the local flavors and culture, while making it a meaningful trip. By choosing to volunteer abroad, your money encourages developing nations to protect their natural resources and preserve the local culture. Give someone, or yourself, an incredible opportunity to help out communities while exploring the world. I guarantee you it will change yours or your loved ones’ life.
